Andy's Farrier Service

"Providing Farrier Services and Understanding for You and your Equine."

Below is some important, simple, and earned experience with a bit of humor passed on by People of today and yesteryear that not only encapsules the horse - human relationship, but  also life in general. I hope you find some direction or 'food for thought' in these words that may pertain to your individual situation. And at the very bottom I put a few words together as my own personal tribute to "The Horse".

Best wishes, and enjoy.

  • "Most all problems I've come across between the horse and handler would have been helped greatly if I could either have put an ounce of woman into the man, or an ounce of man into the woman.."
    ---
".. if somehow you could just slip into their skin.."
    ---
" I can't give you experience.. All I can do is point you in a direction." Tom Dorrance †

  • "One thing good about getting older and moving slower is that I notice so much more than I did when I was young and in a hurry.." Bill Dorrance †

  • "The first thing you need, is the last thing you get.." Ray Hunt †

  • "Begin where you'd like to end up." Harry Whitney

  • "Both Riding and Religion participants seek salvation, but aren't always willing to do the required work." Frank Barnett

  • "The only bit that works on every horse and mule is a bit of knowledge.." used by many.

"No hour is wasted spent in the saddle.." Winston Churchill †

  • "Hand-wringers hands are too busy to climb, and climbers hands are too busy to wring.. Be a Climber!" my good friend Warren Bengtson

  • "The world always makes way for someone that knows where they are going. " Unknown

  • "Don't pull backward to go forward" Tim Christopher

  • "There's only one job where you start at the top, and that's digging a post hole.." Pat Parelli

† God Bless, and keep their departed souls.

The Horse

There are no secrets kept,
between a man and his horse.

You just can't help admiring,
their intangible knowing and perceptive source.

They can smell what's in your soul,
the moment you come into their view.

And are very likely to ask a question,
when things are a bit different, or are new.

For security and comfort to them,
comes with fair and routine treatment within each day.

We can't help but expose what we are to them,
telling other people what we may.

When we look into their mirror,
what we see from them is what is true.

If you don't like the reflection,
the direction of change is up to you.

Some may need less,
with yet others needing more.

That fine line of balance is what is key,
to start to build the good rapport.

To me there are few things better,
when things spoke of here start to get done.

You go out together exchanging your strengths,
your mind and bodies then become one.
